Marquette Poll: majority of Republicans favor a Trump 2024 presidential run, Biden's approval rating drops, confidence in election results vary

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new poll from Marquette Law School found that the majority of Republicans favor a presidential run from Donald Trump in 2024, and President Biden's approval rating has dropped since July.  

The poll surveyed 1,004 adults nationwide, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 10, 2021, about a variety of political opinions.

Among the respondents, 28% said they would like to see Trump make another run for the presidency, while 71% do not want him to run again. However, among Republicans, 60% say he should run while 40% say they do not want him to run. 

A minority of independents would like Trump to run in 2024, and large majorities of those who identify as Democrats oppose a Trump rerun. 

Biden’s job approval rating has declined since July. In November, 49% approved and 51% disapproved, down from 58% approval and 42% disapproval in July. His November approval has barely changed since September.

The survey also asked about approval of congress, while approval declined among Republicans and independents since July, it has remained stable among Democrats.

The poll also showed that opinions on coronavirus issues remain divided.

A majority of respondents, 56%, support requiring vaccinations or frequent COVID testing at companies with more than 100 employees, and 44% oppose these vaccine requirements. Most Republicans oppose the requirements, at 75%, while a minority 45% of independents and 20% of democrats do. 

There were also partisan differences in vaccination rates.
