Chick-fil-A Hendersonville announces another pay raise, sign of competition for employees

Full-time workers at Chick-fil-A Hendersonville will start at $19 per hour starting Monday, Aug. 23.  

The pay increase is a jump from $15 the local franchise promised staff back in April 2021, signifying the competitiveness to recruit and retain employees. Many businesses, especially restaurants, have struggled to keep staff in recent months.   

A Facebook post announcing the pay increase was flooded with comments Monday. The high cost of living locally is likely a main driver in employers stepping up their financial incentives.  

“Finally local jobs that help people afford to live in our absurdly expensive area,” one commenter said.  

Another pointed out that they knew many Hendersonville Chick-fil-A employees that made less than $11 per hour. The local franchise responded that all employees will see a pay raise, but not at the $19 rate.  

“...Currently about 60% of our staff is full-time. They work five shifts a week; many of them work the Saturday shift as that is one off our busiest days. We are looking to move to 100% full-time at our new location and 80% at our original store off the interstate.

"We will now start 14/15-year-olds at $12, and our 16-plus part-time folks at $14,” the response says.   

The full-time wage is for 36 to40 hours a week, with six-day-a-week availability, with employees only working five shifts a week, according to Chick-fil-A Hendersonville. Some of the shifts will most likely be on Saturdays. 

“Our team members work extremely hard, and we are blessed to be able to offer this wage to help meet their day-to-day needs, support their families and invest in our community’s economy,” said Zach Tolar, director of Sales and Brand Growth for Chick-fil-A Hendersonville.
