New Around the World: Soundtrack Songs From ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Shang-Chi’ & More Debut on Global Charts

Lana Del Rey, Labrinth, Niki and Ellie Goulding all reach Billboard's latest global rankings.

The Encanto soundtrack continues to infuse Billboard‘s charts, with eight of its songs on the Feb. 5-dated Billboard Global 200 and five on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. list. The newest addition to the animated film’s global chart haul is the almost-title track, Carlos Vives’ “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” which arrives at No. 172 on the Global 200.

(In the U.S., the soundtrack tops the Billboard 200 for a third week, while its breakout ensemble anthem “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” hits No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming just the second leader ever from a Disney animated film.)

Still, other films and television series spark entrances on the latest global charts.

Currently in its second season, HBO’s Euphoria is not only enjoying booming ratings, but a cultural breakthrough due to its original songs. Lana Del Rey’s “Watercolor Eyes,” released Jan. 21 in advance of the Jan. 23 episode of the series’ second season, debuts at Nos. 101 and 125 on the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. rankings, respectively. In the week ending Jan. 27, the song drew 11.2 million streams and sold 2,500 downloads worldwide, according to MRC Data.

Along with Del Rey’s contribution, the show’s momentum also props up songs from its first season, which aired in 2019. Labrinth debuts on the Global 200 with “All for Us,” featuring vocals by the series’ Emmy Award-winning star Zendaya, at No. 154.  The song was featured in the first season’s finale in a surreal choreographed scene akin to a music video.

“All for Us” scored 9.6 million streams in the tracking week, up 19% from the previous frame. It consistently circled 1-to-1.5 million global streams a week in the final months of 2021, before Euphoria returned. At the same time, its weekly worldwide sales have grown from less than 100 downloads to around 600.

Labrinth’s only previous global chart appearance (since the surveys launched in September 2020) was via another Euphoria track: “Still Don’t Know My Name” spent seven weeks on both lists in 2020. That song was drawing 3.5-to-3.75 million global streams per week before the second season premiere and grew to 8.4 million in the latest tracking week.

Elsewhere, Niki debuts at No. 181 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart with “Every Summertime,” her contribution to the soundtrack for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. And as Shang-Chi marked a breakthrough for Asian actors in major blockbusters, Niki’s global chart arrival marks further representation among Indonesian artists; fellow Indonesian singer-songwriter/actor Pamungkas spent a week on the Global Excl. U.S. list with “To the Bone” last April.

Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding scores her first global hit as 2015’s “Love Me Like You Do,” from Fifty Shades of Grey, cracks the Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 196. Seven years after hitting No. 3 on the Hot 100, the song reaches the global tally thanks to a 1% bump to 7.9 million streams outside the U.S.
