Rise Against’s ‘Nowhere Generation’ Is Band’s First Airplay No. 1

For the first time, Rise Against is No. 1 on a Billboard radio airplay chart.

“Nowhere Generation,” the title track from the Chicago band’s ninth studio album, lifts 2-1 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay tally dated Aug. 7.

Rise Against’s first ruler follows a career on the radio charts that began with “Give It All,” a No. 37 hit on Alternative Airplay in January 2005. The group first reached Mainstream Rock Airplay in October 2008, with “Re-Education (Through Labor),” which rose to No. 22 the following January. Prior to “Generation,” Rise Against’s best on Mainstream Rock Airplay was a No. 2 peak for “The Violence” in August 2017.

Concurrently, “Generation” bullets at No. 3 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart (after reaching No. 2 last month) with 6.6 million audience impressions, up 6%, according to MRC Data. It spends a third straight week at its No. 9 high on Alternative Airplay.

The track also holds at No. 2 on the multi-metric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, where it reigned for a week in June, with 404,000 U.S. streams in addition to its radio airplay.

Nowhere Generation debuted at No. 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart dated June 19 and has earned 33,000 equivalent album units to date.
