Phoebe Bridgers jumps from No. 22 to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart (dated July 4) to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to her new LP, Punisher. With the surge, she secures her first No. 1 rank on any Billboard chart.

The set debuts at No. 43 on the Billboard 200 with 16,000 equivalent album units earned in its first full week (June 19-25), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. (The album was released on June 18.)

Punisher, released via Dead Oceans, concurrently debuts at No. 2 on both the Alternative Albums and Vinyl Albums charts, as well as at No. 4 on Independent Albums and No. 6 on Album Sales.

Bridgers also lands a pair of tracks from Punisher on the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. “Kyoto” re-enters at No. 35, a new peak, while “Garden Song” debuts at No. 40. “Kyoto” also bullets at its No. 22 high on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart.

Notably, Bridgers has appeared on Emerging Artists in two other iterations: as a member of Boygenius and Better Oblivion Community Center. Boygenius, consisting of Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, reached No. 28 in November 2018, thanks to the group’s self-titled debut EP, and Better Oblivion Community Center, aka Bridgers and Conor Oberst, reached No. 10 in March 2019, powered by the pair’s self-titled debut LP.

Among other Emerging Artists chart moves, K-pop group SEVENTEEN debuts at No. 6 on the strength of its new EP Heng:garæ, which debuts at No. 14 on the World Albums chart with 2,000 units. The EP’s “Left & Right” debuts at No. 7 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, marking the group’s 18th top 10 on the tally.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard‘s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
