The Puente Project

The Puente Project is a nationally recognized transfer readiness program sponsored by the University of California, serving thousands of Puentistas in middle schools, high schools, and community colleges across the state.

The Puente Project’s mission is to increase the number of educationally underserved students who:

  • Enroll in four-year colleges and universities
  • Earn college degrees
  • Return to the community as mentors and leaders of future generations

Here at BCC, we support our Puentistas in attaining their education and career goals through a combination of intentional counseling, curriculum that promotes self and collective empowerment, and opportunities for mentorship by members of the community. Through our cohort model, students build meaningful connections with each other, their Puente counselor, their dedicated English instructor, and the larger BCC Society of Scholars community. The program is open to all students who meet the qualifications for enrollment. Puente scholars will be required to participate in all Puente courses, collaborate with our Puente counselor, and engage in community events.

If you are interested in exploring opportunities to join Puente or any of our other Society of Scholars cohorts for the 2021-2022 academic year, please complete the BCC Society of Scholars – Fall 2021 Scholar Interest Form.
