A March 24 record for rainfall was set in the Baltimore region Wednesday, shattering a 32-year-old mark by almost half an inch.
The region saw 1.52 inches of rain recorded at the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record was 1.22, set in 1989.
Overnight Wednesday into Thursday, temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s, and areas of dense fog are possible. The weather service issued a dense fog advisory through 11 a.m. Thursday and warned drivers to be alert and keep headlights on low beam.
Drizzle is possible Thursday morning into the early afternoon, the weather service said, but otherwise temperatures will be in the high 60s with mostly cloudy skies. Showers could return overnight Thursday into Friday with lows in the high 50s and the chance of precipitation 80%.
The rain is likely to continue into Friday, according to the forecast, but Saturday is expected to be warm and sunny with a high of 68 degrees before more wet weather Sunday.
