Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is the sponsoring institute for the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The school is a 21-month, full-time, hospital-based program dedicated to preparing individuals for a rewarding career in medical imaging.

Our program

Founded in 1981, the Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Our program offers students:

  • Two distinct learning tracks:
    • Abdominal Sonography – Extended/Obstetrics and Gynecology and Vascular Technology
    • Adult Echocardiography and Vascular Technology
  • Patient-focused, hands-on training with over 1,500 clinical hours
  • Involvement in over 1,500 sonography exams
  • One-on-one, faculty-led scanning instruction
  • Instructor-led board reviews for registry preparation
  • Ability to sit for board exams prior to graduation (pass rate on registry exams is 100%)
  • 100% employment rate
