According to the Autism Society of Minnesota (AUSM), autism is a complex, lifelong disability that affects social interaction, the ability to communicate ideas and feelings, imagination, self-regulation, and the ability to establish relationships with others. At 916, we know first-hand that people with autism can overcome these challenges to learn, grow, and thrive.

Northeast Metro 916 supports students with autism in all of our general and special education programs, including alternative schools, care and treatment programs, and the Career and Technical Center.

We also support member districts with professional development, equipment, and other resources so they can meet the needs of students in their local schools.
