Professor Chris Potholm

We speak with Chris Potholm about the book Bill Cohen’s 1972 Campaign for Congress: An Oral History of the Walk that Changed Maine Politics.  In October, Rowman & Littlefield published Bill Cohen’s 1972 Campaign for Congress: An Oral History of the Walk that Changed Maine Politics by Christian P. Potholm with Jed Lyons. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of a campaign that would change the course of Maine politics and propel Bill Cohen onto the national political stage where he would play prominent roles in the House, Senate, and as secretary of defense under President Bill Clinton.

Christian P. Potholm was Cohen’s campaign manager and offers a rare inside look at this historic campaign. A former professor of political science at Bowdoin College, Potholm is a leading expert on Maine politics
