At Teaching Assistant Orientation, speakers will explore the issues that you can expect to encounter at Rutgers as a TA. The materials and opportunities for virtual face to face conversations will provide strategies for dealing with common challenges and for making your time in the classroom as effective and rewarding as possible. You will have the opportunity to hear from other TAs from both within and outside of your field. Our goal is to prepare you to lead class on the first day with confidence.
Please note, only those whose TA appointment has been confirmed by their graduate program should register at this time. Those who have not received a confirmation should register once the appointment is finalized. Please note that some programs recommend that Fellows and GAs attend orientation in preparation for future TA appointments. Check with your program administrator to confirm that you should participate in this orientation if you are not a first year TA.
In order to register and access the orientation materials, you will need to setup your Rutgers NetID at
https://netid.rutgers.edu/index.htm. Please do that before continuing.
This year, orientation will be held on the Rutgers' Learning Management Software, Canvas. An email with information on how to access this material will be sent in mid-August.
