Military Claims

Life as a member of the armed forces is unique. It can take you around the world – whether on a tour of active duty or otherwise. But it is a career where danger is ever-present. Accidents and injuries are, therefore, sometimes unavoidable. That said, you should still expect that you will be kept safe and properly trained. If this is not the case, our expert military solicitors have a wealth of experience in representing service personnel who may have a military injury claim.

Our team can support current or former Army, Royal Navy, or Royal Air Force personnel who are injured in the line of duty. It might be that you have grounds for a PTSD compensation claim. Or perhaps being exposed to loud noises means you could now have a military hearing loss claim. No matter the type of injury, Bolt Burdon Kemp is ready to help. Get in touch with us now – find out if you have grounds for a claim and how our military solicitors may be able to help.

What is a Military Claim?

Our military solicitors act for clients anywhere in the world. We can help you if you were injured while on military service, working for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), or involved in private defence contractor work. To make a successful compensation claim for your injury, you must be able to show that it was caused or worsened – at least in part – by someone else’s negligence.

No two military claims are the same. Just as each person is unique, so too are the consequences of an injury. In some cases, the impact may only be short-term – but still stop you from working or living a normal life. When an injury is more severe, however, its’ effects can be devastating. It can involve a lifetime of ongoing care and rehabilitation that your compensation can help to fund.

And we are here to help with all forms of military and armed forces compensation claims.

Million-pound settlement for soldier who suffered shrapnel injuries

Our client was injured as a result of a serious accident whilst working in bomb disposal.

He received a small payment under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme, which he felt did not properly compensate him for his injuries.  Our client suffered life-changing orthopaedic injuries as well as significant damage to his hearing. We obtained multiple expert reports and employment evidence to work out his substantial claim for loss of earnings, pension and employment benefits.

The Ministry of Defence accepted that they were at fault for our client’s injury and the agreed settlement took into account our client’s financial losses, including payments to cover treatment, aids and equipment.
