The second Ask Kelly segment is about how scientists know which variant of COVID-19 a person has.
Josh Chismar, of Latrobe, asked the following question:
"Hi. I'm Josh Chismar I'm from Latrobe. I wanted to ask Kelly — How are doctors, labs and hospitals able to tell the difference between the variants of COVID? Or is COVID just COVID? Thank you."
We took Josh's question to Dr. Alan Wells, medical director at UPMC Clinical Laboratories —the largest academic clinical lab in the U.S.
