Daffodil Days once again taking donations to bring flowers to cancer patients this spring

While snow and chilly weather makes spring flowers seem far away, one local organization is already planning to bring some cheer to those who need it most.

The American Cancer Society is resuming its colorful Daffodil Days campaign, which brings the happy yellow flowers to cancer patients in local hospitals, treatment centers and facilities for those in need each year. Funds raised throughout the program will benefit cancer research and programs while adding splashes of bright color to medical care facilities.

Daffodils, commonly used as a symbol of the spring season, can be ordered during a donation to the American Cancer Society until February 22.

“We are unbelievably grateful to everyone who supports our lifesaving mission through their participation in Daffodil Days," said Dan Tobin, American Cancer Society director of regional integrated marketing. "We are especially grateful to our regional corporate sponsor, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, for their commitment to this campaign.”

Daffodils can be ordered by making a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society, which will provide a regular bunch of flowers for a patient. For a donation of $15, patients will receive a potted plant of mini daffodils, and for $25 donations donors can order a "Gift of Hope," which includes multiple bunches for local patients.

Those interested in making donations and participating in Daffodil Days can contact Shawn Kosior by email at shawn.kosior@cancer.org or by phone at 330-617-8482. Orders are being taken until Feb. 22 and will arrive the week of March 21.
