Training objectives
The overall objective of this training is to develop the participants’ capacity to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and its Review Mechanism in accordance with Resolution 9/1 of the Conference of the Parties (COP), and to prepare them for constructive dialogue with government authorities and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). UNODC is committed to support Member States in the Review Mechanism and to prepare non-governmental actors for constructive and meaningful contribution during the review process.

Training Toolkit
The training will be based on UNODC Toolkit on Stakeholder Engagement: Implementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, from which most of the reading materials come.

Training format
This online training will be held in a dual mode. Part of the training is set in a synchronous mode and will involve live online plenaries, interactions among participants in breakout groups, and Q&A sessions.
The synchronous part of the training will use available online communications technologies that allow instant communication, such as through the use of video conferencing and live chat.
The remaining portion of the training is arranged in an asynchronous mode.
The asynchronous part of the training involves materials that can be accessed anytime and can be studied self-paced, such as assigned readings and self-assessment tools.
Training platform
The training will be conducted through an online platform which will be communicated to selected participants.
Live Sessions
Live sessions will take place from Tuesday, 10 November to Thursday, 12 November.

How will this work compared to in-person training?
Just as in a face-to-face training, it is important that all participants attend live sessions and allocate some time for training-related assignments, which can be completed at the participants’ own pace. It is expected that each participant is prepared for the following time commitment:
The training will be held in English without interpretation.
Despite its online format, the training is designed to achieve the above objectives in an interactive manner and direct engagement of participants. It will include online plenary sessions which will enable the participants to get acquainted with substantive knowledge about the Organized Crime Convention and its Review Mechanism by UNODC and its partners, as well as case study presentations by participants themselves.
The training will also allow participants to actively engage in breakout discussions in smaller groups with the objective of exchanging practical information, discussing best practices and entry points in the implementation of the Organized Crime Convention and its supplementing Protocols, designing recommendations for joint activities on the ground, and establishing collaborations among the participants themselves and with the UNODC—through the Civil Society Team (CST).
Finally, the training will include brainstorming sessions, self-assessment, among other relevant activities.
