Background Information on Nominees for the UNA Portland 2020 Board of Directors

Siobhan Guile-Boessow has served on the UNA Portland Board as President this past year. Siobhan was born and raised in Olympia, Washington where she grew up involved in local politics. At 18, she was accepted into Young Women’s Political Leadership conference in DC where she learned how to run for office and manage a campaign. Siobhan is an alumna of Whitworth University (BBA) and George Fox University (MBA). Prior to moving to Portland, Siobhan was the marketing manager on a legislative campaign in her hometown. Currently she works in the nonprofit sector as an administrative coordinator. Siobhan spends most of her free time walking around Forest Park or trying out a new recipe at home.

Elaine Nelson was on the seven member Steering Committee to reinvigorate the Portland Chapter in 2003 and has been in leadership roles in UNA Portland ever since. For the past several years, Elaine has been on the Board as Treasurer and Chair of the Membership Committee. She has been active on the Education Committee and helped with the Oregon High School United Nations Essay Contest. Elaine is a retired Elementary School Teacher. Elaine’s parents Len and Eleanor Hunting were at the signing of the United Nations Charter in San Francisco on Oct 24, 1945.

Dannine Consoli has served on the UNA Portland Board as Secretary this past year and taken photos at our events. Dannine is originally from California. Dannine obtained her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws at the University at Buffalo, New York, where she took courses in International Human Rights Law, with a particular interest in women’s rights. While a law student, she was selected for a summer human rights internship in Nairobi, Kenya, and volunteered for a summer as an English teacher in Costa Rica. She spent a year working in New Zealand. Dannine is a registered attorney in New York and Oregon, and currently works as a litigation officer for a regional Pacific Northwest bank. She loves the Portland area, and is happy to be back home on the West Coast. She considers it serendipity that she discovered the UNA-USA Portland chapter in a random downtown conversation the day after she arrived in Portland, and is glad to get back involved with her original interests in human rights. She also volunteers at St. Andrew Legal Clinic as an intake attorney for family law matters.

Charu Nair joined the UNA Portland Board last year. She is founder of Keys2DEI Consulting, brings three decades of insights and experience in private and public sectors to her work. Whether providing leadership, strategy and diversity initiatives to the Fortune 500, launching the World Trade Center Portland with the executive team and leading a trade mission, teaching original curricula as Marylhurst University faculty for
a decade, or launching the first laptop in India, foresight is her source. Her impact contributions include the Boards of the Urban League, United Nations and Fulbright, and as Commissioner of Human Rights, Multnomah County, and Civil Rights, BOLI. Recently she curated a five city equity summit. With three degrees spanning three countries and travels to seventy more, Ms. Nair’s work is uniquely informed by her significant local expertise bridged with her wide-ranging worldwide acumen.
