Dr. Abbott extended her research background in knowledge discovery in large datasets (data analytics) at the HCIL by also focusing upon data visualization, human computer interaction, and user-centered design. This interest has expanded into the use of GIS and publicly available data to visualize at-risk populations and deepening the understanding of what resources must be mobilized to improve health conditions.
