Chest Pain - MI Registry

The Chest Pain – MI Registry™ Performance Achievement Award program recognizes hospitals participating in the registry who have demonstrated sustained, top level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations. Through full participation in the registry, hospitals engage in a robust quality improvement process, using data to drive improvements and positively impact patient outcomes for heart attack patients.

This year's Platinum, Gold and Silver Award recipients are recognized for their consistency in meeting patient care guidelines for AMI patients. Hospitals that received a 2023 Performance Achievement Award are featured in the special U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" guidebook.

Overview for 2024

The Performance Achievement Award Program for 2024 considers the performance of hospitals in the Chest Pain – MI Registry during 2022 and 2023.

Eligibility Requirements

  • All AMI patients eligible for Registry inclusion are submitted; sampling of data is not permitted
  • A minimum of 40 NSTEMI/STEMI (pre-admit) episode records per year
  • Quarterly data submitted in each consecutive quarter of the calendar year, achieving a green benchmark inclusion
  • Valid hospital contract as of the 2022Q4 Data Deadline

 

 

 



Performance Measures:

Composite metrics evaluate the care patients received based on the following performance measures:

  • Immediate angio after cardiac arrest (STEMI only
  • DTN<=30 minutes (STEMI only)
  • FMC to device <=90min (STEMI only
  • Door-in door-out time (STEMI only)
  • Reperfusion therapy (STEMI only)
  • ASA on arrival
  • Early troponin measurement NSTEMI
  • Evaluation of LV systolic function
  • Discharge P2Y12
  • Discharge aspirin
  • Discharge beta-blocker
  • Discharge ACE-I/ARB for LVSD
  • Discharge high-intensity statin
  • Cardiac rehabilitation referral

Evaluating whether eligible care opportunities were delivered.

Defect Free Care Composite

Evaluating whether patients received ALL care opportunities for which they were eligible.

All NCDR participating hospitals can see their hospital profile on Find Your Heart a Home. Patients and caregivers use this website to compare hospitals that are affiliated with the American College of Cardiology. Hospitals that receive the Performance Achievement Award will see their level displayed on this site under their hospital profile.
