On any given night, more than 350 men, women and children are homeless in Sioux City. In 2005, the first Siouxland Sleep Out event was held to raise awareness about this issue.
Bidding for the Silent Auction is underway now and runs until Friday, November 6 at 8:30pm. All proceeds from the Silent Auction goes to Community Action Agency of Siouxland's Welcome Home. This transitional housing program provides temporary shelter to homeless families for up to 90 days. During that time, our staff work with these families to find permanent housing, job training and connect them with several other resources in the community. Welcome Home was founded in 2011. Since that time, we have helped more than 240 families find new housing.
This program is funded by private funds, which is why fundraisers like this are so helpful to keep the doors open to families who need it most.
