Dr. and Mrs. Murphy can rest easy following Monday’s episode of The Good Doctor. After overcoming yet another pregnancy scare, Shaun and Lea found out that they’re having a boy! But before they could decide on a paint color for the nursery, Lea had to survive not one, but two intensive surgeries.
The winter premiere began with a surprise time jump. We found out it’d been three months since Lea discovered she was pregnant. She’d reached the end of her first trimester by the time we saw her check in with her OB, whose ultrasound revealed a small, thinning area on Lea’s uterine wall. She was admitted for observation, then underwent an experimental procedure to reinforce the wall. Later on, a second procedure was required after a uterine artery became tethered to scar tissue and did, in fact, rupture. Had Shaun not admitted his wife, she could’ve died. Thankfully, we don’t need to think about that. We can bask in the news that Lea and the baby are going to be OK.
Elsewhere on the good news front…
* Surprise, surprise: Perez survived his drug overdose. He was fresh out of rehab and allowed to resume his residency on a probationary basis, under the supervision of senior resident Jordan. But working alongside the woman he has feelings for proved difficult, and after completing their first case together — yes, that was House‘s Anne Dudek (aka “Cutthroat Bitch” Amber Volakis) playing mom to Gardner’s syndrome patient Drew #StealthCasting — Perez informed Jordan that he’ll be requesting a new senior resident moving forward.
* Lim’s spinal surgery was a success, and she’s no longer paralyzed. At the start of the episode, she was back on her feet, using a cane and contemplating Clay’s pre-op proposal. The chief ultimately decided that she wasn’t ready to get married, but she was ready to take the next step in their relationship. She asked Clay to move in with her, and he said yes.
* Morgan’s IVF journey is well underway. Ex-boyfriend Park offered to drive Morgan to her implantation appointment, but she declined. She instead enlisted Dr. Glassman to serve as her chauffeur.
What did you think of The Good Doctor Season 6, Episode 10: “Quiet and Loud”? Sound off in Comments.
I was here for Amber from House. Tired of Lea and Shaun
I agree they are really forcing them down our throats. I really miss how she was just outside his life out of work but they always seem to force her in the storylines. I liked it when Shaun would focus on the medical instead of focusing on Lea. ugh!
Casey
I agree with you 💯
I don’t know about you, but I HATED the drastic time jump, when the episode started. I was very DISAPPOINTED !!!
Well you must not watch when he is in surgery saving someones life.
Thank you
Everyone is entitled to their opinion even if you disagree with it. Not everyone agrees with the writing this season.
Well what are you watching THE GOOD DOCTOR for. It is about an autistic young man who become a surgeon.
And he also got married to Lea.
Don’t watch if you’re going to put down someone that was born that way.
Thank you
The whole thing with the others sitting with Shaun as they waited for news on Lea was nice. And they’re having a boy! Aw.
.
I understand Daniel wanting to get a bit of distance. I did like him and Jordan trying to talk things out as they did, though. Hopefully they’ll be able to keep their friendship intact through all of this, at least.
.
Morgan’s right to be wary of getting Park involved in her journey. I appreciate him wanting to help, but yeah, her wanting to do this on her own away from him makes total sense.
.
I like Lim and Clay, and I’m glad they’re slowing things down a bit. I hope things continue to go well for them, too.
Yeah for once I’m glad they let have Shaun and lea have good news for once and oh the preview next week they’ll be getting another new member of the family a dog
Yes! I knew the mom looked familiar!
Glad they’re having a boy.
You can’t complain about showing Lea on the show if she’s married to the lead and who the actual show is about.
That was pretty sucky that they made Dr Lopez an addict. Didn’t care for that at all.
Love these actors!! Shaun and Lea are just amazing! Such a well done show!!💗💗💗💗
I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the tears of happiness at the end and I always feel like I am there holding their hand through it all.
Thank you so much for your continued shows that make my Mondays complete.
The time jump confused me a little but I’m back on track now. Love the show. Freddie Highmore is just amazing. Those incredible eyes can speak without him saying a word. I knew as soon as I saw him in “Finding Neverland” that we would be hearing from him again. My heart has been stolen by a kid young enough to be my grandson!
I agree with you, been watching him since he was little boy and knew that he’d make it big! Same age as one of my grandsons…
Freddie Highmore is incredible. And this episode proved it. Showing him trying to balance being the doctor he is and trying to be a husband/father, so good!
Why do all the medical shows turn into soap operas?
For those who complain about the show focusing on Shaun and Lea, the name of the show is The Good Doctor so his character is the main storyline. The shows how a person with autism is able to function within a marriage that’s filled with traumatic situations and a strong support system.
and HAS a strong support system
Booo
If anyone has a problem with what happens on the show, just don’t watch it .For us that do enjoy it .watch on !
I agree
Thank you. I say for the negative comments, go and want the BATCHELOR, or some other reality show.
THE GOOD DOCTOR is a well written show about surgeons and their lives. From autism to drug abuse, which are very real in our world today. Keep watching to us who love the program!
I like the way that they’re showing Shaun’s journey from being withdrawn and inflexible to being able to let people into his life and deal with curveballs–he even initiated the hugs with Glassman and Lim. He listened to Wolk when he told Shaun that Lea needed visitors, even if he did limit their time. And he was able to agree to not being involved with the surgery and trust Glassman and Lim to perform it.
I thought it was Great!! So glad Lea or baby did not die. I love Lea and Shaun together
Was in tears.
I love this show. I hope they don’t ruin the Shaun, Lea, baby story. I want to see Shaun as a Dad and how he and Lea prove to be good parents.
Cheered when they said Lea & the baby came out of the 2nd surgery fine.
Loved it!!!
This show has gone so far into daytime soap opera and it is also manipulative of its audience. Constant bait and switch. Lim is paralyzed….um, no, she’s not. Perez OD’s and dies….um, no he is fine. Lea and Shaun can’t have a baby – um, yes, they can. Lea will die if she gets pregnant….um, no, she’s fine. I mean c’mon. They basically pretend to dangle horrible things then slowly take them back. BTW – given that Lea getting pregnant could have kILLED her- before the miracle surgery – how F’d up does her husband have to be to not take precautions?
Who is the 17yo ‘s mom? I have seen her before.
Can not get searches up for season
6 episode 10.
Thanks.
