Presented by Dates & Time CEU Hour Trauma and Oppression In these times there has been an increase in individuals with trauma histories being re-traumatized. There is a high prevalence of trauma among individuals with mental health and substance misuse challenges. Agencies and providers may unintentionally re-traumatize individuals which can lead to less engagement and poor outcomes. This presentation will explore how various factors, including behavioral health and substance use policies, may invoke trauma responses in individuals we support and possibly in staff . The more systems of oppression that an individual experiences, the more likely that they will be re-traumatized. The lack of recognizing intersectionality may lead to microaggressions which may also produce trauma responses.
