The U.S. accounts for five percent of the world's population but consumes almost 70 percent of the total global opioid supply, creating an epidemic. How did we get here? In this personal talk, Berman Institute Research Scholar Travis Rieder recounts the often-hidden struggle of opioid withdrawal and reveals how doctors who prescribe (and overprescribe) opioids aren't equipped to eventually get people off the meds.
The Dracopoulos-Bloomberg iDeas Lab asked members of the public ``If you were a neuroscientist, what experiment would you do?`` then invited neuroscientists to respond. This resulting 8-minute film seeks to help bridge the gap between researchers and the general public.
