There are three scholarship awards available from TCART — the Student Scholarship Award, the Professional Development Award, and the Archivist of Color Professional Development Award. See details below.
Student Scholarship Award
Criteria and Purpose for Selection
This award supports current students in Minnesota and surrounding states who are enrolled in a Libraries or Archives Certification program. The goal of the scholarship is to stimulate greater participation in professional associations and to provide educational opportunities.
Eligibility
Those eligible for the award must be a student currently enrolled in Libraries or Archives Certification program. They must be a resident of, working, or studying in Minnesota or the surrounding states at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent and by the reference contact provided by the applicant. Recipients are eligible to reapply each year, but preference will be given to applicants who have not received the award previously.
Award
The award consists of a one year membership to TCART and up to $250 in support of tuition, registration, travel and accommodation expenses associated for an archives related class, conference, symposium, or a workshop. The award must be used for a specific purpose (e.g., outside class, workshop, conference attendance) and not for general education costs. One award will be given per year.
Application Process
The applicant will submit by email the following items.
- Completed Application for Scholarships and Awards
- Statement of intent (100-250 words)
- Contact information for a single reference that can attest to the applicant’s interest and need
Supporting documentation, such as a resume or other description of career development, such as volunteer/intern experience is recommended, but not required.
All applications should be submitted to the TCART Officers by November 15th. The recipient will be notified within three weeks of the deadline.
Selection
The selection will be made by the TCART officers.
Award Recipients
Following the conclusion of the event for which funding was requested, the award recipient must submit a brief (150-250 words) describing their experience and how it was useful to them, along with proof of payment and attendance. This essay will be posted on the TCART website and Facebook page. The recipient will be reimbursed after the class/conference/symposium/workshop. If the recipient is unable to attend the event for which they have applied, they will forfeit the award.

Professional Development Award
Criteria and Purpose for Selection
Established in 2006, this award supports current members of the Twin Cities Archives Round Table who are individuals working with archival materials to attend an archives related regional or national conference, symposium, or educational workshop. The goal of the award is to stimulate greater participation in the professional activities of these associations and to provide continuing education opportunities.
Eligibility
Those eligible for the award must be a TCART member and must be working in an archives or information management field. Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent and by the reference contact provided by the applicant. Recipients are eligible to reapply after three years.
Award
The award consists of up to $250 in support of registration, travel and accommodation expenses associated with attending a conference, symposium, or a workshop. One-two scholarships of $250 will be awarded each year. In the event that the selected application does not require the full award, the remainder may be given to another applicant.

Archivist of Color Professional Development Award
Criteria and Purpose for Selection
This award supports individuals working with archival materials or currently enrolled in Libraries or Archives Certification program who are of African, Asian, Indigenous, or Latine descent for attendance to an archives related regional or national conference, symposium, or educational workshop. The goal of the scholarship is to stimulate greater participation in the professional activities of our field and to provide continuing education opportunities for members of the field from communities of people of color.
Eligibility
Those eligible for the award must be working in an archives or information management field or currently enrolled in Libraries or Archives Certification program. Applicants must be a resident of, or currently working or studying in, Minnesota or the surrounding states at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent and by the reference contact provided by the applicant. Recipients are eligible to reapply after three years.

The award consists of a one year membership to TCART and up to $500 in support of registration, travel and accommodation expenses associated for a conference, symposium, or a workshop. One $250 will be awarded each year. In the event that the selected application does not require the full award, the remainder may be given to another applicant.
