Dear Friends of St. Charles Singers:
Our 2023-24 season continues to speak to great music and meaningful collaborations. In April, we welcome spring and the beginning of our 40th anniversary year with music of Benjamin Britten, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Morten Lauridsen, and others. We will also include a set of folk songs from our recording Bushes and Briars.
We hope to see you at our concerts as we enter our 40th year of music-making.

We’re offering two exciting workshops this summer for high school and college students.
Our one-day College Conducting Master Class, on Wednesday, July 17, is a collaborative workshop for collegiate singers and conductors and first- and second-year music educators. Students can also apply to conduct a lab choir composed of an ensemble of St. Charles Singers and fellow class participants. Conductors will receive feedback from the choir and from SCS Music Director Jeff Hunt.
Our popular SING! workshop, on Thursday, July 18, offers high school students a day to focus on the art and joy of ensemble singing. Student spend the day working in small ensembles; then come together as one choir to present a community concert for friends and family. The clinicians leading the workshop are among the most experienced and talented ensemble singers in the area.
I have been privileged to direct Jeff Hunt’s choir on a number of fondly-remembered occasions over the years, and it is like being allowed to drive someone else’s finely-tuned Rolls-Royce (or whatever is your favorite luxury car). They purr along effortlessly at high speed, negotiate the awkward corners with ease, make you feel like a better driver-and you don’t even have to fill them up with fuel.
