A day of skiing is the cherry on top, and they don't call it a ski vacation for nothing, but sometimes you need to change it up—sometimes your toes need a break from your boots. Here are myriad ways to stay active on and off the mountain, even after last chair, from yoga classes to full moon snowshoe hikes and more. 

Visiting Park City? 

Check in to any of these places and take full advantage of the fitness classes and activities they have to offer! 

A gondola ride away from Canyons Village Park City Mountain, the Waldorf Astoria has a beautiful fitness facility that offers a weekly schedule of fitness classes including; yoga, Tabata, kickboxing, mat pilates, and circuits of cardio and strength. Use their gym equipment on your own, or get a personal training session. They have an outdoor heated pool perfect for swimming laps, even when it’s snowing! 

Walking distance to Red Pine Gondola, Westgate Park City Resort and Spa is a great place to stay close to the mountain action. Start the day off skiing over 300 trails while tracking your vert on the SnoCru App! Coming back to the Westgate, make your way to the Yoga Studio for hot yoga, 26 poses of Bikram yoga, or try a Yoga-for-All types class. If you’re really looking to get fit and have an extremely active trip, you can join OneFitness Camp and attend strengthening bootcamps, cardio, and endurance training sessions, along with lifestyle workshops. This is great for anyone who wants to lose weight or regain control over their fitness and health! 


A quick bus ride from the Park City Base, Hotel Park City is a gorgeous place to stay with an outdoor pool, fitness facility, and a golf course that gets groomed for cross-country and nordic skiing.  Start the day off by taking a yoga, zumba, or pilates class in the morning, log a couple miles of crossing country skiing on the groomed track in the afternoon, and end the day by dipping in the heated pool and hot tub! You’ll have a full day of activity, you’ll feel fantastic, and you won't even have to leave the Hotel grounds!  

If you’re looking for an activity that the whole family can enjoy, check out the resort center ice skating rink at Park City! With festive lights, upbeat music, and warm beverages, they offer ice skating daily to all ages.

Located at the base of Deer Valley Resort, The St. Regis Deer Valley offers a 24 hour Athletic Club with personal training, yoga and pilates studio, and separate locker rooms, all complimentary to guests. Yoga, pilates, foam roller, and guided meditation classes are also offered through The Remède Spa.


Stein Eriksen Lodge, like the man himself, was designed around mountain style and class. Steps away from the Sterling Express chairlift at Deer Valley, The Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge offers an outdoor pool and a beautiful wellness studio. Morning Mountain Vinyasa, Refine and Align, Core and More, Advanced Yoga, and Stein Barre are classes offered to increase strength, improve balance, and advance the performance of your body!  

Montage Deer Valley is a ski-in/ski-out alpine oasis with a remarkable fitness center. They have a weekly schedule packed with fitness classes for your daily burn! From spin, TRX, and Bosu Boot Camp, to Pilates, yogalates, and more! You’ll come for the skiing, but you’ll want to stay for these fitness classes!  The Montage also has an indoor and outdoor pool, along with personal training sessions. 


Visiting Skiing Big or Little Cottonwood Canyons?

I know you are coming to ski or board at the resorts, but if you have more energy to burn or if you want to try something new, check out the options below! 

At Solitude Mountain Resort, there is no shortage of calories you can burn on the 20 kilometers of nordic trails. With brand new skis and boots to rent this year, you can definitely put in some winding miles through the forest from the Nordic Center to the Solitude Village. There are also 10, scenic kilometers of snowshoe trails to explore!

If you just can’t get enough laps in during the day, well you’re in luck because Brighton Resort has night skiing available. With three lifts operating from 4pm-9pm, you’ll surely hit your goal of vertical distance on the SnoCru App!

Up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta Ski Area offers spectacular views and amazing ski options. Utah Mountain Adventures offers guided Backcountry tours to takes you to the greatest, untouched snow! Alta also offers snowcat skiing in Grizzly Gulch. You should probably put one of these on your Christmas wish list! Santa will want to join!

The Cliff Spaat Snowbird offers a mind, body and spirit program; with yoga, pilates, HIIT, and other movement classes in the slopeside studio. Personal training is available upon request. I’m excited to check out the newly renovated rooftop pool area with heated decks, expanded communal space, and gas fireplaces to enjoy after skiing!

The scene around Sundance Mountain Resort offers much more than a spectacular view. The Sundance Nordic Center offers full moon cross country skiing or snowshoeing through the winding, wooded trails. Ladies day at the Nordic center offers cross country clinics for advanced ability levels and lessons for beginners to build skills. The guided night owling tour presented by the Great Wildlife Rescue is a unique experience that you won't find anywhere else. Learn from the Wildlife experts and fill your evening date night with the excitement of night owling!  Sundance also offers daily yoga and meditation classes for relaxation and rejuvenation of the body, mind, and spirit. 

Visiting Staying in Ogden or the Ogden Valley? 

The stunning Snowbasin Resort grooms 26 kilometers of nordic trails for the joy of skating and classic nordic skiing. There are a variety of trails from beginner level to expert level to get moving on!

If you're feeling a bit competitive this season, sign up for the 7k trail running race at Nordic Valley on Dec 16, hosted by Trail Manners. Marking their 50th year, Nordic Valley is hosting the Frosty fat tire race to celebrate with sweat and swag! This enthusiastic event will be held on Dec 30th! 


Venturing to Northern Utah?

Family trips to Cherry Peak are unpretentious, simple and a breath of fresh air. Snow tubing is offered in three-hour blocks of exciting entertainment! Cherry Peak also has evening skills clinics for beginners to learn more about skiing.  

Heading down South? 

Get the family together and saddle up for some Brian Head tubing. It's a great winter activity to bring joy and laughter to all ages! Ready to increase your speed? Go to Thunder Mountain Motorsports to rent snowmobiles for a thrilling adventure near Cedar Breaks National Monument! Need more leg work? Head to Brian Head Sports and rent some snowshoes or nordic skis and explore the beautiful scenery that Brian Head has to offer! Cedar Breaks Lodge has a fitness facility and pool for your enjoyment.
