Good afternoon! We can’t believe that next week is officially TRYOUT WEEK! Please read this email in its entirety and hopefully it will answer all questions about tryouts. Of course, if you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Remember all girls are required to wear the following each day to clinic/tryouts:
a solid white tank or fitted tee
solid black shorts
high pony tail w/red ribbon
no show socks
cheer shoes
Whatever a candidate wears to clinic, it cannot have any logos or any writing on it. The girls will be given a number on Monday & will go by that number all week. We will not be using names at all. ONLY NUMBERS. Candidates MUST be at school all day to participate at clinic. All clinic days are MANDATORY until 5:00. No scores will be given at optional after clinics.
Tryouts are ALL week, mandatory clinic:
Monday-Wednesday 3:00-5:00
(CLOSED, NO PARENTS)
5:00-6:00 Optional After Clinic $10 daily, parents are welcomed to come in the gym during this hour.
CLINIC PLUS TUMBLING & STUNTING-First panel of judges
During this time the candidates will be divided into two groups. One group will be stunting and tumbling, while the other group is learning the material. Halfway through the clinic the groups will switch. Each candidate will be judged on stunting and tumbling Monday-Wednesday. Candidates will have multiple opportunities to show stunting skills. To be scored, a tumbling skill must to be performed several times each day of clinic.
Thursday- 3:00-5:00 (CLOSED, NO PARENTS)
5:00-6:00 Optional After Clinic $10 daily, parents are welcomed to come in the gym during this hour.
MOCK TRYOUTS
Candidates will run through material and practice exactly how the last day of tryouts will go. They will practice jumps, cheer, dance, & band chant.
Friday 3:00-Until we are done
(CLOSED NO PARENTS)
Candidates will text when it is time to pick up after tryouts.
TRYOUTS- Second Panel of Judges
The girls will be scored on the material that they learned during clinic Monday-Wednesday, which is a cheer, dance, band chat, & jumps.
VERY IMPORTANT-
Material for each day will be released the night before at 7:30pm on the HTMS Cheer website. Candidates are welcomed to go ahead and learn the material BEFORE clinic. Each day at clinic the current 8th grade cheerleaders will reteach the material, add an incorp (toe touch, back handspring, or standing tuck), watch the girls practice, and answer any questions. Our current 8th grade cheerleaders WILL NOT know the material beforehand. They will learn the material the same time the candidates will, the night before the clinic. PLEASE DO NOT REACH OUT TO CURRENT 8TH GRADE CHEERLEADERS for help of ANY KIND. They have been told they are NOT ALLOWED to assist candidates outside of clinic days at HTMS. Doing so, could cause your child to not be eligible to try out.
Sunday- Dance
Monday- Band Chant
Tuesday- Cheer
