J. Jobu Babin, Ph.D.

I am a behavioral microeconomist interested in experimental and quantitative methods, insights from cognitive science, and data analytics. I hold the Cecil P. McDonough Endowed Professorship and am an Associate Professor of Economics at Western Illinois University. I'm also the lead of the Behavioral Economics and Organization Research Group (BEORG).

In my research, I seek to understand the relationship between communication/text and pro-social choice, why people lie or misreport on the job, motivated/distorted beliefs, and the role of norms, stereotypes, and discrimination in economic decision-making.

I currently teach Game Theory, Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Econometrics on the graduate and undergraduate levels and have developed a bevy of other classes. As a member of numerous theses committees, I am proud to have a demonstrated commitment to guiding student research.
