TumbleBooks is available through Discus. Please scroll down to the bottom of these Discus resources to access the TumbleBook Library which includes fiction and non-fiction animated, talking, story, and chapter books; French and Spanish books; National Geographic videos; and puzzles, games, and songs, all accessible from computers or mobile devices.

Unite for Literacy pictures a world where all children have access to an abundance of books that celebrate their languages and cultures. With a goal of cultivating a lifelong love of reading, Unite for Literacy provides free digital access to picture books, narrated in many languages. Grades: PreK – 2

Wide Open School is a free collection of the best online learning experiences for kids curated by the editors at Common Sense. There is so much good happening, and we are here to gather great stuff and organize it so teachers and families can easily find it and plan each day.

Discus provides access to a variety of elementary school databases including Brain Pop Jr., Tumblebooks, Britannica Elementary, and Magic School Bus videos. IDES students can access this resource directly through Launchpad.

Common Sense Education has organized resources for families including how to understand news coverage, homework help, and recommendations for what to read/watch/play.

Science Resources


NASA Space Place's mission is to inspire and enrich upper-elementary-aged kids' learning of space and Earth science online through fun games, hands-on activities, informative articles and engaging short videos. With material in both English and Spanish and resources for parents and teachers, NASA Space Place has something for everyone.



NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS features educational games, videos, and other activities, centered mostly on animals and the natural world. Kids also can get a virtual tour of different countries, featuring fun facts and other information. They can contribute to the site by posting comments (which are moderated), answering quizzes, and submitting photos.

Roper Mountain Science Center (Greenville, SC) Science and Social Studies Specialists provide video shorts with question prompts. There are standards based science videos for each grade level.
