Boundary Exceptions

Boundary Exceptions

The first step for any boundary exception request is to register for your neighborhood (resident) school. Kindergarten decisions for boundary exceptions are usually not made until late August. Applications for the 2022-23 school year will be accepted beginning Monday, January 10th. Applications for the current school year may be presented at any time. Please visit the Boundary Department web page for more information.

Immunizations

Immunizations

Washington State law requires certain immunizations against childhood diseases of all students, regardless of age, who attend a public or private school or a licensed daycare center. On or before the first day of attendance, proof of the student's (a) full immunizations, (b) initiation of schedule of immunization, or (c) certificate of exemption must be presented at the school.

Beginning August 1, 2020, Washington requires medically verified immunization records for school. Medically verified record includes one or more of the following:

· A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) printed from the Immunization Information System (IIS)

A physical copy of the CIS form with a healthcare provider signature

A physical copy of the CIS form with accompanying medical immunization records from a healthcare provider verified and signed by school staff

· A CIS printed from MyIR

The legally required vaccines for students entering kindergarten are:

· Five doses of DTP or DTaP vaccine.

· Four doses of Polio (OPV or IPV) vaccine.

· Two doses of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR).

· Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.

· Two doses of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.

Click here for minimal interval requirements for valid vaccine doses.

Certified waivers are permitted if parents have a religious objection or a medical objection signed by a medical doctor. An Exemption form must be on file with the school.

Please call your healthcare provider if you have questions or concerns.

Other Documents

If your child has any special medical or educational needs, please provide the school with those records.

Legal Custody Documentation

Legal Custody Documentation

In cases involving court-ordered custody of children, schools must have on file current STATE OF WASHINGTON court documentation of custody, in order to assure compliance with any court orders. The school must also have on file any restraining orders that have been filed against a parent or guardian.

Transportation

Transportation

For the safety of our kindergarten students, it will be our policy (view in Russian and Spanish) to have a parent, guardian or sibling meet or acknowledge your kindergarten student when the bus driver drops them off at your student’s bus stop. If you feel it is not necessary to have a parent, guardian or sibling meet the school bus when we drop off your kindergartner, please put your request in writing to the bus driver. If we do not have a Kindergarten Release Form submitted to drop off your kindergarten student without a parent, guardian or sibling present, the bus driver will take your child back to their school and it will be your responsibility to pick up your child.

Emergency Information

Emergency Information

In the event your student should become ill or suffer an injury, it is important for school personnel to be able to contact you during the school day. Please keep the office informed of your home, work, and alternate emergency telephone numbers. Should a school be closed early due to bad weather or an emergency situation, it is also important to have an alternate place for your child to go in case no one is at home. Again, this is for the safety of your child and you are urged to determine an alternative plan and be sure your child knows it.
