Thank you for your interest in the study about your physical therapy experience after total knee replacement.

My name is Elizabeth Regan. I am a physical therapist and faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the Exercise Science Department at the University of South Carolina. I am conducting a research study would like to invite you to participate.

I am studying the physical therapy experience of people who had a total knee replacement in order to understand perspectives and potentially influence future care. Participation is voluntary. If you qualify and decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a few web questionnaires about your knee replacement, your satisfaction with your knee replacement, your beliefs about exercise, and your mobility levels. Additionally, you will meet with me for an interview about your physical therapy experience and activity levels.

In particular, you will be asked questions about your activity levels before your knee replacement, and after your knee replacement while you were having physical therapy and now that physical therapy is over. Additionally, you will be asked questions about physical therapy experience and your relationship with your physical therapist(s). You may feel uncomfortable answering some of the questions. You do not have to answer any questions that you do not wish to answer. The meeting will take place a mutually agreed upon time and place, including a virtual meeting option, and should last about 30-45 minutes. The interview will be audio recorded so that we can accurately transcribe what is discussed. The tapes will only be reviewed by members of the research team and destroyed upon completion of the study.

You will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for your participation in the study upon completion of the interview.

Participation is confidential. You will be assigned a research number for the surveys and for your interview. Study information matching your identity with your research number will be kept in a secure location at the University of South Carolina, and only accessible by me. The results of the study may be published or presented at professional meetings, but your identity will not be revealed.
