EPA Pushes Equity Focus of $50 Billion Water Infrastructure Fund

The EPA is stressing that struggling communities must “benefit equitably” from the historic funding in last year’s infrastructure package as the areas seek to remove lead water pipes and upgrade drinking water and wastewater projects.

An agency memo released Tuesday details plans to award and administer $50 billion in additional water project funding over the next five years, the bulk of which would be routed to states, local communities, and tribes through the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds.
