NBME Open Enrollment Item-Writing Workshop 

NBME offers workshops to help medical school faculty and other health professionals to enhance the quality of their multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for use on their own examinations and programs. NBME professionals will facilitate a workshop specific to the needs of your school or assessment body, tailoring examples and exercises to align with your healthcare discipline(s).

Open Enrollment Workshop Overview (Remote)

• Participants will complete 1 to 1.5 hours of prework, including watching a series of microlearning videos, completing structured activities, and writing a new item or reviewing and revising an existing item
• NBME professionals will conduct a 2.5-hour workshop via video conferencing software with participants, including small group review/revision of items, large group review, and time for discussion
• Workshops will be offered quarterly
• Participants comprise individuals from across institutions, educational backgrounds, and health professions

Workshop Details

The online sessions will be held via Zoom for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes in length, facilitated by NBME professionals (up to 50 participants per session). Individuals will be asked to agree to terms and conditions to participate in this workshop. In addition, there will be up to 1.5 hours of prework for each participant to complete prior to the online meeting. Participants must join the session 5 minutes prior to start time and will need: 

• Zoom (current version recommended)
• A laptop or desktop computer
• Headphones
• Microphone, separate or integrated into computer or headphones
• Stable internet connection
• Google Chrome internet browser
• Comfortable and private location for the duration of the session 

Workshop Pricing

$350 price per person for the open enrollment Item-Writing Workshops. NBME accepts payment via PayPal only.
