GenCyber Student Camps :: Overview

The 2022 GenCyber Student Camp at Boise State University is a free, in person, full-day, one-week program that introduces high school students in Boise and nearby to cybersecurity first principles and the rapidly developing field of cybersecurity. Using hands-on activities, students will engage with applied cryptography, Raspberry Pi set up and security, threats, risks, network traffic analysis, penetrating testing, and virtualization practices.

GenCyber Student Camps :: Objectives

The GenCyber Student Camp at Boise State University is designed for high school students (entering grades 9-12 in fall 2022) to:

Introduce and cement knowledge of cybersecurity first principles

Increase the curiosity of the participants in the field of cybersecurity

Encourage participants to seek further education in cybersecurity

Motivate participants to seek a career in cybersecurity

GenCyber Student Camps :: Modules

We have designed this camp to be team-based, interactive, and game-based. The curriculum of each camp is organized into four modules we will address in four 90-minute sessions over the course of each day. The modules are:

Cybersecurity First Principles, Ethics, and Online Safety

Raspberry Pi- based Information Security & Privacy Awareness

Raspberry Pi- based Network Security Awareness

Raspberry Pi- based Web Security and Penetration Test Awareness

Eligibility & How to Apply

Applicants must be high school students who reside in the U.S. and attend a U.S. school (or home

school).

Applications will be reviewed and assessed on a first come, first serve basis, until all positions are fulfilled. Due to the limited number of positions, you are encouraged to apply ASAP.
