West Islip Planned Parenthood Reopens After Months of Renovations

WEST ISLIP, NY — After 10 months of renovations, a nationally known health center has officially reopened in West Islip.

Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic announced that its West Islip location at its located at 180 Sunrise Highway, recently resumed its services to the community.

The renovations have since nearly doubled the center's size, expanding it to 3,882 square feet, a release said.

The extra space now accommodates six "comfortable" and private exam rooms. Throughout the renovated space, the design "prioritizes openness, privacy, and touches that create a modern and welcoming environment", the release said.

The center is open Monday through Saturday.

“We are thrilled to continue to offer patients high-quality and compassionate care at our West Islip health care center, now in a more modern, updated facility, custom built to best meet the needs of our patients and staff,” said Vincent Russell, President & CEO of PPHP. “This expansion will allow us to provide vital health care services to more patients in Suffolk County.”

The West Islip location first opened in 1994. Services available include birth control, gynecological exams, prenatal care, HIV testing and counseling, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, abortion care, and gender-affirming care.

West Islip is one of many latest PPHP health center to receive facility updates. PPHP’s Riverhead, Huntington, White Plains, Smithtown, and New Rochelle centers have also been renovated within the last six years, the release said.

The organization has a total of 10 health centers and two mobile health centers throughout Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, and Suffolk counties.
