The Sukh-Dukh Helpline (SDH) is a platform to offer Psychological First Aid as well as grief and bereavement counselling to affected persons across India to cope with the losses experienced in the Covid-19 pandemic.

SDH is a national Helpline which is operational in 8 languages − Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali and Malayalam. It is a collaborative effort by Pallium India and its Partners (PIP) – Caregiver Saathi, MIND India and Edjacklegs. The PIP team is committed to consistently provide quality counselling services to all its Beneficiaries.

The Helpline functions with the help of a Manager, Volunteer Counsellors and a Senior Counsellor. A manager is responsible to receive calls and schedule appointments for the Beneficiary. Volunteer Counsellors (VCs) provide counselling support and services to the Beneficiary. Senior Counsellor mentors and conducts regular debriefing sessions with the VCs. Through this service, we ensure that Beneficiaries are treated with support, empathy, respect, sensitivity and receive appropriate assurances (e.g. confidentiality) and information.

We ensure that they feel “heard”, and their counselling requirements are understood.
