Short-Term Transitional Residence for Homeless Adults

OMH is seeking proposals from not-for-profit organizations to develop and operate a 15-unit Short-Term Transitional Residence. The organizations should have experience in operating a licensed, mental health housing program.

The Short-Term Transitional Residences are for people who are being discharged from Extended Treatment Units (ETUs) and need time to strengthen their skills before moving to a more independent housing setting. The program will offer supports and skills training in a home-like environment that is:

  • Comfortable
  • Safe
  • Recovery-oriented

Private bedrooms are ideal but no more than two people may share a room. Ample kitchen, dining and living space must be provided to facilitate skill building, group activities, and recreational opportunities.

OMH intends to award four programs to be located in New York, Kings, Queens and Bronx counties in the New York City Region.
