Trump is more popular than de Blasio in New York: poll

More New Yorkers like President Trump than like Mayor Bill de Blasio, according to a poll by Sienna College.

The embarrassing survey showed that statewide, only 29 percent of voters have a favorable view of Hizzoner, while 34 percent view the commander-in-chief favorably.

De Blasio’s 53 percent unfavorability rating was up from 50 percent in April and was his worst favorability rating in the history of the poll.

But the majority of New Yorkers take a dim view of both the mayor and the president, with 63 percent of voters having an unfavorable view of the Trump, up from 59 percent in April.

Fifty-three percent give de Blasio the same thumbs down, including 52 percent in the Big Apple.

Among New York presidential candidates, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand came out on top, beating de Blasio among statewide Democrats by 56 to 25 percent.

She led Trump 58 to 34 percent among all voters, while de Blasio beat Trump by a narrower 48 to 36 percent in a head-to-head race, the poll said.

Gillibrand also had a 44 favorability rating, up slightly from 41 percent in April.

“New York Democrats strongly prefer the hometown senator over the hometown mayor. Gillibrand would easily best de Blasio in every region of the state, including New York City, where she beats him 56-29 percent,” Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said.

“Blue New York shows no interest in supporting the incumbent Republican President for re-election.”
