Whitefish city leaders and first responders participated in crisis situation training on Tuesday.

The training was designed by Rutgers University and covered planning for and responding to a variety of situations, including natural disasters, terrorist threats and cyberattacks.

“I think that we need to be having these discussions. I think we know that we need to collaborate with our partners, and we need to continue these discussions,” Whitefish City Manager Adam Hammatt said. “It's so easy to become complacent over time, and then, all of a sudden, in your complacency, that's when something will happen. So it's important that we keep at the top of our game moving forward, so that if something happens we're prepared."

The training will continue Wednesday with hands-on practice exercises allowing city officials to put what they learned into action.
