MILWAUKEE – With the health and safety of student-athletes, staff and supporters top of mind, the Milwaukee Athletic Department has announced it will not host spectators for any home men's or women's basketball games in the months of November and December due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The difficult decision took all factors of cases in the city and region into consideration and will include all fans, UWM students, and families of student-athletes and coaches of the participating teams.
Season ticket members will be receiving a separate communication as it relates to their membership refund options for November and December.
A determination of extending or halting this policy will be re-evaluated in the coming months, should the ever-changing conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic improve over the course of the 2020-21 basketball season.
Milwaukee Athletics is hopeful that fans will be allowed to attend home basketball games later in the season. If allowed to attend games later in the season, fans will be required to wear a facemask, use only new mobile ticketing and cashless options to be launched by the Milwaukee Ticket Office this winter, and practice physical social distancing.
More information and full details related to virtual gameday experiences for Panther fans and the streaming of Panther basketball games on the ESPN+ platform and the Black & Gold Radio Network will be available soon.
