On Friday, October 15, 2021, the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School presents its annual fall conference featuring Perspectives from members of our Sports Law Alumni Association who teach sports law and sports management at various universities.  The conference will be presented using two methods.  Marquette University Law School students, staff and faculty, can attend in person within Eckstein Hall, the home of Marquette University Law School.  All in person attendees must be fully masked at all times within the conference space.  All other attendees can view the conference online on Microsoft Teams.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, from gender equity issues related to the impact of the Supreme Court's Bostock decision on transgender participation in sport, and the epidemic of sexual harassment in NCAA college sports; technology and intellectual property issues related to wearable technology and its impace on name, image, and likeness rights, the use of brain implants or Whole Brain Emulation in football, and trade secret protection in auto racing; team and facility issues in professional sports from disputes over ownership and relocation of franchises, to the development and evolution of naming rights; legal issues impacting international sport including the use of U.S. federal law to combat sports corruption, new federal efforts to combact sports doping, and the evolution of European soccer over the past 25 years.  The conference will also include a keynote focused on issues faced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Tokyo Olympics.

CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

In person attendees may check in after 8 am on Friday, October 15, 2021.  Online attendees should not join the Teams event site until after 8:45 am.  The conference should end by approximately 4:45 pm.  

REGISTRATION:

There is no cost to register for the conference.  Only Marquettte University Law School students, staff and faculty can attend in person although masked at all times. All other attendees can attend on Microsoft Teans.  Please select the registration link below that applies to you in order to register before Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

CLE CREDIT:

The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School has applied for 6 Wisconsin CLE credits for this event.  Any decision on awarding credit comes only from the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners.  Attendees interested in receiving CLE credit must remain for the entire event.
