ABOUT US

The CARE2 Fund was named after the fundamental characteristics of our shared value system (Caring, Attitude, Respect, Empathy, Energy); our commitment to these values leads us to make better decisions and furthers our true sense of community.

The Fund was originally established to give USLI employees the opportunity to request donations to charities and causes to which they have a personal connection. In 2012, the Fund was officially reorganized as a 501(c)3, which allows us to make an even greater philanthropic impact.

In addition to employee driven causes, we also raise funds for larger causes selected by USLI, shown below. The CARE2 Fund has helped us donate over $10 million to various causes over the years, with no administrative cost being deducted from funds raised.

DISASTER AND TRAGEDY RELIEF

We coordinate our efforts with the American Red Cross and Global Giving when natural disasters and tragedies occur in our country and globally. From assisting with hurricane relief to helping families who have lost loved ones in tragedies, we take donations from our community, customers and family and we match them to make the most impact during these difficult times.

SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH

Minding our mental health is fundamental to our happiness and overall well-being. Our goal is to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and empower each other to practice self-care. By purchasing our swag, you can help others recognize this important topic. It’s also a reminder that it’s ok to not always be ok. You’re not alone. Purchase one of our hoodies, workout tees and more. All proceeds benefits the CARE2 Fund at USLI Inc.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Breastcancer.org is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide up-to-date medical information to women and their families so they can make the best choices for their futures; they are the world’s leading resource for online breast cancer information. We donate 1 percent of USLI’s new business premium to Breastcancer.org during the month of October and advocate for breast cancer awareness and education by running an online auction with items donated by USLI’s customers, law firms and employees, in addition to running other various fundraising events. Join us every October for 1 Month, 1 Percent, 1 Fight.

HAITI OUTREACH

USLI works with Clean Water for Haiti to provide water filtration systems to families in Haiti. Over 50% of deaths in Haiti are caused by waterborne diseases. From 2015-2018, USLI teams traveled to Haiti to install BioSand Water Filtration Systems in Haitian homes as well as water houses, which provide clean drinking water to entire villages. Our trips provided fresh water for many people, as well as employment for around two dozen Haitians. The unemployment rate in Haiti is over 40%. We’ve made an ongoing commitment to make a greater impact in Haiti by encouraging our local community to join our efforts over the next 5-10 years. Moving forward, we will focus our efforts on employing Haitians full time to contract and deliver BioSand filters for Haitians in need. So far, USLI has affected the lives of over 10,000 Haitians, and we are excited to continue and expand these efforts over the next few years.

EDUCATION

At La Salle Academy, we believe our responsibility to each student extends beyond graduation from 8th grade. It is our expectation and goal that all of our students will graduate from high school, and we provide the necessary support to make that happen.

Our Graduate Support Program is designed to provide students with the assistance necessary to be successful in high school and beyond. The program begins in 7th grade with general information and continues in 8th grade with the search for a proper high school, followed by applications for admission and financial aid. After graduating from La Salle Academy, our alumni continue to receive encouragement and support as they navigate the social and academic challenges of high school.

OTHER INITIATIVES

Since 2007, we’ve partnered with the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign to raise money for bed nets to send to families in Africa to protect them from malaria, which is the leading killer of children in Africa. Every $10 donated saves four lives. Each summer, our teams work to raise money for this worthy cause.

We’ve also organized special events around the holiday season for Toys for Tots, which provides toys to less fortunate children. This year we sent over 4,500 toys to families in need.
