The Connection
Issue 13: April 2019

Congratulations to Champlain College, Middlebury and Saint Michael's College!  Along with GMHEC, we have taken a significant leap in the tranformative initiative of Project Ensemble.  Together, all entities have successfully gone live with ReNXT Blackbaud for Advancement and Oracle for Finance and Budgeting.  Blackbaud Net Community (BBNC) is live at Champlain and in the next few months will be implemented at Middlebury and Saint Michael's.

Mahendran Jawaharlal, CEO and President of CampusWorks, Inc, one of our partners on our project, recently shared "There have been a number of attempts to achieve this in our industry and what has been accomplished here is a milestone that can become a model that others will soon want to follow".

Many many individuals and teams have collectively contributed to the success thus far.  We appreciate all of the collaboration, engagement and learning across all organizations.

Our Human Resources teams are also actively focused on the implementation of Oracle Human Capital Management/HR which will go live in early fall.

We appreciate all of your patience and learning with our new solutions and processes.  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Corinna Noelke
Executive Director
"You are the creator of miracles.  This is a miracle, and a lot of people are watching."

President Laurie Patton, Middlebury

Finance Update

Congratulations to the Middlebury team for their recent go-live with Oracle Finance!  Corinna Noelke, Executive Director of GMHEC, reflected on the long ago days when she and others at Middlebury were trying to unsuccessfully leverage Banner, but due to limited functionality within the technology, met roadblocks.  Now, Oracle Finance brings best processes and functionality.  Champlain College and Saint Michael's College  are also live on Oracle Finance.  Recently, Julie Eldred, Champlain shared, "I love it.  This makes everything so much easier!"

Advancement Update

Colleen Fitzpatrick and Jami Black, Middlebury, celebrating the go-live of Blackbaud on March 29th.  The celebration included Monterey streaming and a well-crafted obituary of Banner.   All member colleges are now live on Blackbaud.  Congratulations!

Human Resources Update

We congratulate everyone involved with the implementation of Blackbaud ReNXT for Advancement and Oracle Finance!  We too are looking forward to the fall when we will all be live on Oracle Human Capital Management/HCM.  You will be hearing about the terminology HCM, which stands for Human Capital Management.  In the fall, GMHEC along with Champlain College, Middlebury and Saint Michael's College will go live with the Oracle product called HCM.  Under the leadership of Andrew Dubuque, along with the local leads of Ellen Usilton, Jackie Greer and Kendra Smith, the HCM teams, along with many others, are deeply engaged in the work. In early May, Systems Integration Testing will begin and an exciting (and intense) summer will unfold.
Jackie Greer and Ellen Usilton, local leads working on Project Ensemble for HCM/HR, at the Oracle Modern Business Experience Conference last month.  Andrew Dubuque, HCM Project Lead, also attended.  Jackie shared "the conference was a great opportunity to network with other Oracle users, learn about the critical components to a successful launch and get a glimpse into some future endeavors".

What is IT SOS?

In order to share knowledge and improve service a number of support groups have been set up, known as the IT Services and Operational Support (IT SOS) teams to support the members of GMHEC.  These teams are focused on particular functions (Service Integrations, Application Administrators, Information Security, Reporting, Document Imaging, and User Support) and membership spans each of the institutions to ensure local expertise is present at each College.

For a list of the members and contact information for these teams, please see here.

Well-Being Updates

The best medicine is...laughter??

Why couldn't the pirate play cards? Because he was sitting on the deck!

Bahahaha…..oh come on….go ahead and laugh.  April is National Humor Month so there is no better time to make a commitment to interject more laughter into our lives.  Laughing is one of the best things we can do to support our well-being and the best part is that we can actually fake it ‘till we make it when it comes to reaping the benefits of laughter.  Forced laughter is just as good for us as spontaneous laughter.  So go ahead...It’s fun, feels good and it’s good for us!

Eat Well, Be Well Challenge!

National Nutrition Month® is celebrated in March, but making smart diet choices year-round is key to eating well – and being well!  In addition to encouraging you to stay physically active, this challenge will boost your ability to navigate nutrition and provide resources to help you make healthy food choices now and in the future.  The challenge, sponsored by the Green Mountain Higher Education Consortium, starts on April 15th and ends on May 25th.
