Math Vocabulary Words: (Same words, quiz on Friday)

1. Compose – connecting fractions together by adding ¼ + ¼ = 2/4

2. Decompose – to deconstruct or break apart into smaller pieces or parts 2/4 = ¼ + ¼

3. Unit fraction – a fraction that has 1 as a top number or numerator 1/3, ½, ¼ , 1/6

4. Equivalent fractions – two or more fractions that equal the same amount ½ = 2/4

5. Fraction – a number that names part of a whole or part of a group

6. Numerator – TOP number of a fraction; tells how many PARTS are being counted
