Interior Design
Lynn Kaplan has had a multitude of careers. The first was in education. After acquiring a degree in literature from SUNY Stony Brook and teaching high school English, she went on to get a Master's Degree in Education from Hofstra University. The second career began with a Certificate of Interior Design and a Master's Degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. The establishment of Lynn Kaplan Designs, Ltd. came quickly along with full Professional Certification from A.S.I.D., the American Society of Interior Designers. Projects in Manhattan and on Long Island followed. After establishing this firm of 3 Interior Designers she began teaching at Long Island University C.W. Post Campus. Lynn taught there for over 20 years eventually becoming Chairman of the department, Her third career has been as a speaker, sharing her knowledge of Education, Art, and Design with audiences in the South Florida region.,

The world of Design is ever-changing, always has been, always will be. From the cave dwellers to the Condo dwellers we constantly seek the new, the fresh, the original. Remember when Avocado kitchens were all the rage in the 1960”s? They’ve gone away only to be replaced by the “hot new color” avocado green. The Great Hall of King Henry the 8th has morphed into the Great room of today. Design’s curved lines and straight lines shift back and forth over the centuries. Join Lynn Kaplan, A.S.I.D. for an examination of design trends past and present. This lecture includes a colorful PowerPoint.
