PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPION
2018 Outdoor: 3,000m Steeplechase (9:06.58)

2020 INDOORS: Missed the majority of the season due to injury. In his lone competition during the season, Yegon finished third overall in the 3000m at the Angry Birds Challenge (8:52.21).

2019 OUTDOORS: IC4A Champion in the 3000m steeplechase with personal record time of 8:53.36… qualified for NCAA East Preliminaries where he finished 36th (9:15.56)… finished seventh in the steeplechase at Patriot League Championships and set a new PR in the 5K, finishing 16th in 14:58.03… Finished fifth overall in the 3000m steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational (9:02.33)… Finished third overall in the 3000m steeplechase at the Bison Outdoor Classic (9:04.08)… Finished first overall in the 5K at the Lehigh versus Lafayette Dual Meet, earning a personal record (15:17.88)… Finished 33rd overall in the 3000m steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays (9:16.99)… Finished fifth overall in the 1500m at the Penn Challenge (4:00.49).

2019 INDOORS: Finished third overall in the mile at the Bucknell Tune Up (4:19.95)… Finished 23rd overall in the 3K at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational (8:48.01)… Finished fifth overall in the 3K at the Navy Invitational (8:50.75)… Finished first overall in the 4x800m relay (8:06.87) and second overall in the 800m, earning a personal record (1:57.55) at the Lehigh versus Lafayette Meet.
 
2019 INDOORS: Finished third overall in the mile at the Bucknell Tune Up (4:19.95)… Finished 23rd overall in the 3K at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational (8:48.01)… Finished fifth overall in the 3K at the Navy Invitational (8:50.75)… Finished first overall in the 4x800m relay (8:06.87) and second overall in the 800m, earning a personal record (1:57.55) at the Lehigh versus Lafayette Meet.

2018 OUTDOORS: Qualified for and competed at the NCAA First Round prelims in the 3,000m steeplechase…Ran his fastest steeplechase of the season in 9:00.79, earning All-East honors in fifth place at the IC4A Championships…Captured his first career Patriot League Championship in the steeplechase, winning the event in 9:06.58…Placed eighth out of 50 in the 1500m at the Larry Ellis Invitational (3:58.65)…Placed second in the steeplechase at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet and finished runner-up in the 5K at the Lafayette 8-Way Invitational (season best 15:25.34)…Reset his personal record in the steeplechase in four straight meets throughout the season…Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the ECAC President’s Honor Roll.

2018 INDOORS: Competed in the 1,000m and the mile run at the Patriot League Championships…Placed second in the mile at the Bucknell Tune-Up (4:20.21)…Ran a season-best mile of 4:19.77 at the Dr. Sander Invitational at the NYC Armory placing ninth out of 42 runners…Took second in the 800m run at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet (1:59.78) and third in the 3K at the Angry Birds Challenge (8:41.30).

2017 OUTDOORS: Finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase at the Patriot League Championships with a time of 9:31.01…Set a personal-record in the 5000m (15.38.89) at the Patriot League Championships…Won the 3000m steeplechase and set a personal record at the Lehigh Games with a time of 9:30.29.

2017 INDOORS: Placed second out of 29 runners in the 3000m run at the John Covert Classic with a time of 8:53.79…Set a personal-record in the 3000m (8:48.66) at the Armory Track Invitational…Finished 15th in a field of 39 and set a personal-record in the mile (4:27.81) at the Angry Birds Invitational.

PERSONAL: Son of Ruth and Philip Koech…Has four siblings, Winny and Merylyn Koech, and Vincent and Benjamin Yegon.

Nickname: None so far. Very sure my cross country folks will get me one quite soon
Why did you choose Lehigh: I’m a countryside styled guy. Lehigh being in the country side seemed such a nice place to be. Plus, the people I talked to when inquiring about Lehigh made it seem really cool.
What’s your favorite thing about Lehigh: The countryside part of it.
Thoughts on Lehigh Coaching Staff (Coach Etters): I think Coach Todd is a really nice coach. From what I’ve known by talking with him and from teammates, he’s a coach who sees athletes as his children.
Major and Why: History. Myth has it that my tribe could be of Egyptian descent. I’ve always wanted to find this out.
Favorite Food: Chapati and beef stew.
Favorite Color: Spring Green

Favorite Movie: Ant Man. (I’m not a science nerd but I so much love science fiction)
