FAQs

What is the 2023-2024 show?

Disney’s FROZEN KIDS

When is the show?

Performance Dates are Thursday, March 7th, and Friday, March 8th, 2024

How do I try out?

You need to do the following:

  • Sign up for WORKSHOP *AND* AUDITION by completing Audition Form/Permission

Slip

  • Attend the workshop on MONDAY OCT. 30 th

  • Attend ONE audition date of either MONDAY NOV. 6 or WEDNESDAY NOV. 8 th

  • Bring a completed audition form with attached photo to auditions

  • Be prepared to attend “call backs” on Thursday Nov. 9th (see below for more

information on call backs)

What will we do at the workshop Monday Oct 30th?

On the workshop day we will teach you part of a song and dance that you will perform during auditions. You will also get to practice some of the acting scenes you will use during auditions. We will go over all the expectations for being a part of the show, what rehearsal schedules will look like, and how auditions will work.

Which speaking part should I practice in the script pages?

Read through all the different parts so you are prepared to take turns doing different roles. You might read a couple of lines for 2 or 3 characters during your audition.

Do I have to memorize the lines?

Nope! Being familiar with them helps but you don’t need to

memorize. We will have extra copies on hand. We’re looking for you to show us how expressive you can be!

Will I have to sing by myself? We will start out by signing in a small group, and if you are only interested in being part of the chorus then you don’t have to sing alone. If you are interested in a named role you will need to sing the same song solo for the audition panel.

Can I try out for a specific part?

On the workshop day you will be given an audition form, this is

where you will tell us what parts you are most interested in. Be sure to fill this out and BRING IT BACK on your audition day, with a photo of yourself attached.

Do I have to have a speaking part/singing part?

If you are not interested in auditioning for a named role, you may be part of the chorus. The chorus sings, dances and adds extra action to several scenes in the show. It’s an important part of any musical! Being a part of the chorus requires many rehearsals and mandatory participation in dress rehearsals.

Will anyone who auditions be cut from the cast?

No! Everyone who auditions, pays the registration fee and signs the show contract (a promise to show up at all scheduled rehearsals, learn your parts and do your best) is in!

What is a call back? After the audition committee sees everyone once, we might need to hear some kids again to help us make final casting decisions. Call backs will be after school on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, from 3:45-5PM; if you need to attend call backs we will contact your parents on Thursday evening.

Who is picking the cast? The musical committee is Courtney Goche, Amanda Klein,

Katie Piperno &  Jess Shaw. We’re all parents of 5th or 6th graders at Kutz. As in the past, we will also invite some Kutz teachers to help us during auditions. Because some of our own kids are auditioning, we will each step out for our own child’s audition and won’t give feedback on any casting decisions for our own child.

What if I disagree with casting choices/don’t like my part? Not getting the part you dreamed of can be very disappointing, but it’s part of the experience of being in theater. All casting decisions are final and will not be changed. Casting a show is like a big complicated jigsaw puzzle. We promise to do our very best to be fair and to put together a show we can all be excited for and proud of!

When will we find out our parts? The cast list will be announced on Friday Nov 10 th via email. Rehearsals will start the following week.

Wait! I have more questions!
