NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is NETGEAR's current parental controls solution, offering a number of ways to manage your children’s online activity and promote good online habits for the family. If you recently purchased a NETGEAR device, it might support Smart Parental Controls instead of Circle. For more information, see the Smart Parental Controls product page.
Before enabling Circle on your NETGEAR router, make sure that your router is running the latest firmware. For more information, see How do I update the firmware on my NETGEAR router with a web browser?
To enable Circle Smart Parental Controls on your NETGEAR or Orbi router using the router web interface:
- Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router’s network.
- Enter www.routerlogin.net for NETGEAR routers or www.orbilogin.net for Orbi routers.
- Enter the router user name and password.
The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The Enable Circle Smart Parental Controls page displays.
- Click the ENABLE button.
The BASIC Home page displays.
- Click Parental Controls.
- Move the slider to the right to enable Circle Smart Parental Controls.
- Click the Apply button.
The links to download the Circle app display.
- Download the Circle app on your mobile device.
- Launch the Circle app and tap the LET’S GO button.
The Account Details page displays.
- Complete the fields on the Account Details page and tap the CONTINUE button.
The Add Phone Number page displays.
- Enter your cell phone number and tap the SEND CODE button.
A code is sent to the cell phone number that you provided.
- Enter the code that was sent to your cell phone.
The Circle app verifies the code.
- Tap the AWESOME! button.
- Select a subscription plan and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your preferences.
Circle Smart Parental Controls is enabled on your NETGEAR or Orbi router.
