Karitane® offers babysitting services in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Tauranga and Hawke’s Bay.
Like all our candidates, our babysitters are interviewed by us, reference checked and subjected to a New Zealand Police check. Many are nannies looking for extra work and some are students, teachers, mothers or grandmothers with lots of experience with children. Our babysitters range in age from early 20s to 60 plus.
As well as regular babysitters, we also have our Karitane® Professionals who are experts in looking after babies under two years old.
If you are visiting Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Tauranga or Hawke’s Bay we are happy to provide babysitters to your hotel.
We specialise in event/wedding babysitters where we can provide one or more babysitters at the venue specified to look after the children while the adults relax and enjoy the special occasion.
We are happy to offer one-off bookings.
Babysitting terms and conditions
- Bookings are for a three hour minimum – so go out and enjoy yourselves!
- Charges are per hour and paid to the babysitter direct (except for hotel and special event sitters where we require credit card payment in advance).
- Our babysitting rate is applicable from 7pm and starts from $25 per hour (or from $30 per hour for a Karitane® Professional). Please call for hotel and special occasion rates.
- There is an additional fee of $5 per child per hour for any non-sibling child being looked after.
- We prefer 24 hours’ notice, but are able to provide a same-day service at an extra rate.
Karitane® Professional babysitting booking fees are:
- $35 per day for a one-off booking payable directly to Karitane®
- $50 for same day one-off booking (payable by credit card at time of booking directly to Karitane® )*. Please note: Our booking fee may be subject to change on a New Zealand public holiday.
There is a cancellation fee – our babysitters are busy and committed people.
If you give less than 24 hours’ notice cancelling a booked sitter, the three-hour minimum fee is payable to the sitter and the Karitane® fee will be deducted from your credit card.
