Lauren Cevis was elevated to Deputy Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator in July of 2018. Although her stent with the Dolphins started in September 2014 as the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services, she most recently served as Jacksonville’s Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services before earning the appointment of Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in August 2017.

Cevis is responsible for the operational management, supervision, and evaluation of women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, and women’s soccer. Throughout her time at Jacksonville, she has also served in the same capacity for Jacksonville’s women’s rowing, men’s rowing, and softball programs.

Lauren is heavily involved, not only within the Athletic Department, but also across campus, and within the Jacksonville community. She serves on the President’s Council, Diversity Council, Compliance and Certification Committee, Faculty Athletic Committee, Missed Class Policy Committee, Academic Misconduct Committee, Athletics Policies & Procedures Committee, Summer Bridge Committee, Community Outreach Committee, and the Students of Concern Committee among many others in which she plays a vital role.

In her role, she serves as the departmental supervisor for Student-Athlete Services, Sports Medicine, and Strength and Conditioning.

While under Cevis’ guidance, Jacksonville’s Student-Athlete Services department has soured. With her initial creation of the Student-Athlete Center for Success in 2015, the department has achieved consecutive record-breaking semesters of maintaining and exceeding a departmental GPA of a 3.30 or higher and has found ways to further engage student-athletes through innovative, curriculum based developmental programming, and the creation of the department’s JAXPYS Student-Athlete Awards.

Through her oversight, she has created a Student-Athlete Welfare and Development team that comprises members from the Sports Medicine Department, Strength and Conditioning Department, Kinesiology Department, Baptist Health, and Jacksonville University Counseling Center.

Prior to her arrival to Jacksonville, Cevis has had prior stops at the University of Maryland, George Washington University, and the University of Georgia.

The proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), National Black Master of Business Administration Association (NBMBAA), and Women Leaders in College Sports (Currently serving as the Chair for the Education & Professional Development Committee). She is also a graduate of the NCAA Leadership Institute, Jacksonville University Leadership Academy, Women Leaders in College Sports Leadership Enhancement Institute, Top Connect AD, and will soon participate in the LEAD1 Institute (2022).

A University of Maryland graduate, with a degree in Communication and concentrations in Rhetoric and Social Influences, Cevis earned master’s degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University, a Master of Business Administration from Jacksonville University, and earned her Doctorate in Business Administration from Jacksonville University in the spring of 2021.
