Job Description
POSITION GOALS
  • Demonstrate and promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Management, and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines, and other woody plants in dendrology and horticulture.

  • Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Be available to meet weekly with management to discuss landscaping needs.
  • Must assess soil and space requirements for new trees.
  • Responsible for planting new trees or woody plants.
  • Responsible for identifying and treating diseased trees.
  • Perform skilled tree maintenance work such as pruning, feeding, watering, bracing, repairing, spraying, fertilizing, removing, and transplanting trees and shrubs.
  • Responsible for testing and maintaining soil conditions.
  • Responsible for applying specialized tree fertilizers.
  • Properly apply pesticides, if necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Agronomy Arboriculture or related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A current license to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides.
  • Attendance in an apprenticeship program in horticulture preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of trees and their growth pattern.
  • Technical knowledge of tree pruning, cutting, and spraying equipment and when to use the different techniques.
  • Knowledge of different herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and chemical fertilizers.
  • Advanced knowledge of biology and environmental science.
  • Knowledge of the common varieties of trees and their structure is necessary.
  • Knowledge of methods, practices (including watering of trees), tools, and materials used to care for and maintain trees and shrubs.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in tree maintenance work.
  • Proven work experience as an Arborist.
  • Good communication skills.
